Pigeon Valley Fire update 37 - 17:25 hours 11/02/2019

While residents of Wakefield today have received welcome news they can return home, we are conscious that there are others who are not yet able to do so.

Two community meetings will go ahead tonight as planned. They are at:

  • 5.30pm at Appleby School
  • 7.30pm at Hope Church.

We’re mindful not everyone will be able to attend so we will be livestreaming the meetings on Facebook.

Residents in Eves Valley, Teapot Valley, Redwood Valley, Pigeon Valley and Golden Hill were able to return home on a short-term access today. Civil Defence hopes that this arrangement can continue each day until longer access can be approved.

Change of location for Civil Defence Centre

The Civil Defence Centre at Saxton Stadium will close at 8pm today and is moving. it will re-open from 8am at the Richmond New Life Church, 85 Wensley Road.

There will be people from multiple agencies at the New Life Church Centre able to provide information on a range of issues, including financial assistance, health and animal welfare.

Financial assistance

People needing financial assistance can call into the Work and Income Richmond Service Centre, 275-279 Queen Street, Richmond. The centre is open Monday to Friday from 7am to 8pm.
