Strengthening teams

In addition to working with individuals, the Behaviour and Conduct Office also provides help to strengthen teams and brigades to prevent issues arising, or to address concerns at an early stage.

How do we know if there are issues in the teams?

A team’s culture is affected by all kinds of things. Often it can start with something small going unresolved which evolves into tension and conflict. If people have concerns about speaking up, feel as though they are not recognised and don’t feel valued, these may be indications that there are issues with a team’s culture.

Promoting positive behaviour

A key function of the BCO is to provide education to prevent issues arising and to provide our people with the tools to work through issues if they do arise. The BCO can assist your team/brigade through:

  • organising training for your team to help build a positive working environment
  • supplying any tools and resources that maybe required to prevent and eliminate unwanted interpersonal behaviour
  • helping you to build a workplace where everyone feels supported, safe, respected and included regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs.

What resources are available?

Respect workshops

These are designed to create a shared understanding among our people of what respectful and inclusive behaviour is. They are interactive sessions where members of the team can reflect on their behaviour and how it affects others.

Facilitated conversations

These are designed to engage some or all of a team in discussions about behaviour that is affecting an individual or the team. It provides an opportunity for people to openly discuss what is going on, what impact it is having and what steps could be taken to address and improve the situation.

If you would like to learn more about how we may be able to assist you to strengthen your Team/Brigade, please contact the BCO directly.
