About us  

Fire and Emergency New Zealand was set up under new legislation in July 2017, combining 40 urban and rural fire services and 14,000 people. We became one national emergency management organisation to keep New Zealanders, their property and our unique environment safe.  

Our firefighters educate communities to build their resilience by helping them prepare for, respond to and recover well from emergencies. 

We respond to a wide variety of emergencies including motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, dealing with hazardous substances, severe weather events and natural disasters. We work to reduce risk to make our communities safer, through fire safety campaigns, research, and by providing advice on the Building Code.

About the role 

We have a six-month fixed term opportunity for a performance and monitoring advisor to play an integral part in the organisational performance and monitoring of Fire and Emergency New Zealand. This position works alongside a Senior Advisor Performance and Monitoring, in a team of Strategy, Performance, Monitoring and Reporting professionals, responsible for setting the organisation’s strategic direction, aligning performance, and regularly reporting and monitoring how well the organisation is performing.

Key Accountabilities and Deliverables 

  • Producing regular monthly and quarterly performance monitoring which helps show management teams, the executive leadership team and the Board, how the organisation is performing
  • Ensuring organisational performance reporting is aligned with the organisations strategic objectives
  • Providing performance and monitoring expertise and input into strategy, business planning, evaluation and performance improvement processes across the organisation
  • Working within the team to ensure that clear, consistent and relevant frameworks and processes are in place to collect, monitor and report on organisational performance
  • Working with leaders and others in the organisation to set and monitor performance measures at all levels
  • Working with the organisation to understand the progress that is being made and help tell the performance story
  • Managing the organisations performance measurement framework, including alignment of work to the framework, and using qualitative and quantitative means to tell our performance story and how our work helps us achieve our goals.

This is a fixed term opportunity, to backfill for an internal secondment. The salary range for the role is up to $80,947 per annum, paid commensurate to experience. 

About you 

To succeed in this role, you will have recent experience in a performance and monitoring role in Crown Entity, Ministry or Government Department. A relevant qualification relating to performance measurement, such as achievement of a PuMP course would be an advantage.
