Who are we…

Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017. The role of our new organisation is to reduce unwanted fires, respond to structural and vegetation fires and other emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, hazardous substance related incidents, natural disasters and support increased community resilience.

Our new, unified organisation provides a fire and emergency service that delivers for communities, and the firefighters who serve them, now and in the future.

 

What is the role?

You will be a technical manager who is highly regarded in achieving results while preserving key relationships and be able to build and form strong relationships across all parts of our organisation. Your ability to see the bigger picture, to be able to communicate with our front-line and corporate staff and work with business units and our external partners to meet their strategic priorities will set you apart from other applicants.

This position is a direct report to the Director ICT and is accountable for the day-to-day operation of computing infrastructure, end user devices and software, networks, data centres, the production support and strategy of our Cloud and Mobile Strategies and the systems that are necessary to provide a superior service for our users. You will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to work across teams (ICT and other business users) and be results focused.

The ideal applicant will be able demonstrate the following key skills:

  • Extensive technical knowledge in Microsoft technologies, in particular Cloud, Azure and related Cloud applications.
  • A desire and passion to pro-actively provide our users the right and useable tools for them to do their role.
  • A transparent and open communication style. You will be comfortable working with all levels of the organisation, in particular our front-line volunteers and career staff.
  • The ability to see the bigger picture and a clear vision on how to get there.
  • Sound financial and resource planning.

The remuneration range for this role is $129,173 – $151,968. Benefits include matched Kiwisaver employer contributions of up to 6%, life and income protection insurance for KiwiSaver contributors, and unlimited fair use sick leave policy.
