About the role

Reporting directly to the Specialist Response Manager, this role provides advice to the Service Delivery Branch.

The primary purpose of the role of the National Operations Advisor Infrastructure is to provide superior operational advice to Fire Engineers, Region/District Managers and Project Teams working on significant infrastructure projects. 

Working with the Policy & Doctrine advisor in maintaining or developing new operational policies, standard operational procedures and guidelines specific to Infrastructure.

The position holder will assist with guiding the organisation moving towards principle-based procedures away from the current prescriptive ones.

The role will be based within Auckland Region in order to engage heavily with key stakeholders noting the largest infrastructure development is occurring in the Auckland Super city environment. Travel across the country will be required which may involve overnight travel.

About You

Qualifications, attributes and experience

Suitable candidates will possess the following skills/attributes:

Essential

  • A related tertiary qualification or significant experience in the built environment
  • Fire and Emergency NZ operational or similar fire service experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Ability to interpret and translate technical documentation into operational requirements
  • An understanding of public sector standards
  • Ability to drive a strong "Customer Service Ethos"
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build rapport, influence others and maintain strong relationships with people both internally and externally
  • Ability to work autonomously and to operate within a national team environment while also working within a regional environment
  • Substantial computer literacy in Microsoft applications.

Desirable

  • Experience writing policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Experience in the successful use of Project Management methodology.

The remuneration range for this position is $100,954-$112,171 and as this is a permanent role the following benefits apply:
