Fire and Emergency New Zealand

Learning Management Systems (LMS) Administrator

Unique opportunity for an experienced Learning Management Systems (LMS) Administrator to
join Fire and Emergency New Zealand’s Education Technologies team. Full-time permanent role based centrally on The Terrace Wellington (with work from home options available)

About us

Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017. Our vision is to build stronger communities and protect what matters most to the people within them. Our unified organisation provides a fire and emergency service that delivers for communities, and the firefighters who serve them, now and in the future.

As the most trusted public sector agency we are working to embed our new values.

  • We Do the Right Thing – Kia Tika
  • We Serve and Support – Manaakitanga
  • We Are Better Together – Whanaungatanga
  • We Strive to Improve – Auahatanga

About the role…

Located within the People Branch’s Training department, the Education Technologies team is responsible for the provision and management of learning technology solutions and systems that meet the current and future training needs of FENZ’s 14,000+ personnel. The LMS Administrator’s primary role is the day-to-day administration and maintenance of Fire and Emergency’s LMS (SumTotal 20.1) and some bespoke adjacent systems.

Your responsibilities will include providing technical and operational support and training for these systems and their users (including a large group of business services administrators), building and maintaining complex learning activity structures, exploring and implementing new functionality, improving cross-systems integration, liaising with software vendors, generating reports and data analysis as required, and maintaining comprehensive documentation of the work you do.

About you

Fire and Emergency’s Training and ICT environments are complex, extensive, and evolving, so you’ll be a technically-adept fast learner, possess strong critical thinking and analytical abilities, and be confident in communicating and working collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders. You’ll be able to grasp the big picture while also attending to the details, be passionate about learning and employee development, and enjoy creative problem-solving.

Expert technical knowledge, proven experience with a range of IT applications and systems (including databases and the Microsoft suite), and experience in working with IT vendors is essential. While much of the training Fire and Emergency NZ delivers is instructor-led, e-Learning is also an established and ever-growing space, so experience in working with multiple content and delivery modes is highly desirable. This encompasses experience in the use of e-Learning authoring tools (such as the Articulate suite) and/or Adobe InDesign or similar, proficiency in HTML/CSS, and a qualification in Adult Education or equivalent experience in coaching staff in relation to technology use. Some experience with SQL-based applications and datasync maintenance will also be highly valued, as will any experience with APIs.

Salary Band: $89,000 to $99,000
