About the role

We have multiple exciting new permanent position in the Waitemata district, Counties Manukau and in Auckland City. The Advisor Risk Reduction reports to the Community Risk Manager and will be responsible for undertaking, supporting and advising on risk reduction functions and activities across both our built and natural environments.

On a day to day basis you will:

  • Provide advice and expertise on the management of risks relating to all fire types in both built and natural environments (for example, house, factory, bush and grass fires).
  • Deliver risk reduction technical programmes and initiatives which are aligned and consistent with fire and emergency national programmes, policies, processes and tools.
  • With appropriate training will undertake fire investigations and support other agencies and contribute to trend analysis.
  • Deliver risk reduction, compliance and enforcement functions across both natural and built environments.
  • After appropriate training will be assisting with the creation and maintenance of fire plans, fire hazard assessments and advice, fire permit activity and providing advice to key stakeholders, partners and the public.

About you

We are looking for someone interested in working with a diverse range of people and groups in their community. This multi-faceted position would suit people who can communicate complex and technical information to a range of audiences, with varying levels of understanding.

You don’t need to have a background in firefighting or fire investigation to apply for this role, we will help you to develop the necessary technical skills and knowledge required. This role would suit someone who is a team player, has an interest or experience working in risk reduction, compliance, stake holder management or a regulatory position. You’ll have the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, regulations, standards and compliance requirements.

We are looking for an agile person who is happy working from the office some days or some days be on the road, or out and about in the community. We’ll supply you with a vehicle, cell phone and the tools necessary to get your work done.
