Join FENZ as a Volunteer Recruitment Administrator to join our busy Volunteer Resilience Recruitment team on a Fixed Term basis until June 30th 2022.  This role sits in our People Experience Directorate, based at NHQ Wellington.

About Us

Fire and Emergency New Zealand was set up under new legislation in July 2017, combining 40 urban and rural fire services and 14,000 people. We became one national emergency management organisation to keep New Zealanders, their property and our unique environment safe.

People Experience is a directorate of the People Branch at Fire and Emergency New Zealand. We are at the beginning of a journey to define purpose and design people-centric services. Our organisation is changing and we acknowledge that we need to support this by redesigning how we work and support our people.

We deliver core services; Payroll; Remuneration; Reward & Recognition; Safety Health and Wellbeing; Injury Management; Recruitment; Volunteer Sustainability; Human Resource and HRIS, to support all FENZ people and leaders, from our volunteers through to Career firefighters and everyone in between.

About the role

This role will provide volunteer recruitment administration support. Additionally, they will work collaboratively across Volunteer Resilience team.

On a day to day basis tasks will include:

  • Working collaboratively across Volunteer Resilience team
  • Providing customer service and information to prospective volunteers, brigade leaders and associated staff
  • Helping guide applicants through the recruitment process.
  • Liaising with medical centres, applicants and police vetting services to process applications
  • Entering data into recruitment, HRIS and finance systems.
  • Being able to demonstrate the following volunteerism principles in action i.e:

  • Recognising volunteers, their employers and families as well as their contributions
  • Appreciating that volunteering is always a matter of choice
  • Identifying sharing and growing what works for volunteers

  • Being inclusive and accepting of difference

The remuneration range for this role is $51,771-$57,523

  • Has dealt with volunteers in previous roles or has been a volunteer for an organisation and is respectful of their efforts within a community

  • Has some work experience
