Principal Advisor to Director

Fixed term Principal Advisor - play a key role in supporting a tier two director

The creation of our new organisation has been a busy time for us so we are looking to appoint a 12 month fixed term Principal Advisor to support our Director Business Effectiveness. 

This directorate has a wide range of functions including:

  •  Internal Audit
  •  National Operational Efficiency
  •  Business Services
  •  Knowledge & Information Management
  •  National Strategy & Performance
  •  Strategic Programme Office
  •  Project Management & Business Analysts.

You’ll therefore need to get stuck in and carry out a range of tasks across these broad functions – this could range from keeping things ticking along to leading work for the Director and acting for her where needed.

The role is a great mix between operational and strategic work, where you’ll need to develop strong relationships, have excellent communications skills with experience writing governance papers and communications.  You’ll  also need to be comfortable with ambiguity and be a strategic thinker with the initiative and ability to get things done.

The role includes:

  •  Providing strategic and operational advice and support to the Director
  •  Managing and lead projects on behalf of the Director
  •  Reviewing and provide advice on governance papers, including reports to the Strategic Leadership Team and Board
  •  Supporting key high risk projects and complex issues
  •  Influencing critical stakeholders and drive change.

  •  Excellent written communication skills
  •  Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  •  High-level analytical and problem solving skills with a proven capability to develop sound solutions to complex issues
  •  Demonstrated ability to convey information and ideas clearly and accurately, in a way that meets the needs of the audience
  •  Experience in coaching others to and building capability.
