We are looking for a Procurement Manager with expertise in all aspects of contract management, from contract negotiation, day to day contract activity, contract reviews through to contract expiry.

We have three portfolios available, ICT | Fleet | Property. Please state on your cover letter which portfolio you are interested in.

About us 

Fire and Emergency New Zealand was set up under new legislation in July 2017, combining 40 urban and rural fire services and 14,000 people. We became one national emergency management organisation to keep New Zealanders, their property and our unique environment safe.

Our firefighters educate communities to build their resilience by helping them prepare for, respond to and recover well from emergencies.

We respond to a wide variety of emergencies including motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, dealing with hazardous substances, severe weather events and natural disasters. We work to reduce risk to make our communities safer, through fire safety campaigns, research, and by providing advice on the Building Code.

About the role

As our Procurement Manager you will manage the end to end procurement and contract activities for a specific portfolio, covering a varied range of goods and services.  This will include development of tender documentation, issue and evaluation of tenders, contract negotiation, and contract management.

You will provide superior, quality focused, relevant and specialised commercial advice to your clients; and embody our values that ensure we remain the most trusted public sector agency.

The Procurement manager will be a superstar at:

  • Preparing papers to the Commission and Organisational Leadership Team / Senior Leadership Team to recommend the awarding of contracts for Senior Leadership Team and Fire and Emergency New Zealand Board approval and any other duties consistent with the position as may be required by the manager
  • Ensuring Business owners undertake regular performance monitoring for all key regional or national specific contracts
  • Negotiating and concluding national and regional contracts, monitoring contractor performance and taking appropriate action to resolve difficulties

About you

To succeed in this role, you will be:

  • Completing End to End procurement process for the procurement of goods and services from the development of the specification right through to contract approval
  • Across relevant legislation, policies and their application
  • Involved in all aspects of contract management, from negotiation, day to day activity and reviews through to expiry; and
  • Experience in accounting principles and financial analysis

Essential

  • End to End experience in the procurement of goods and services from development of the specification right through to contract approval
  • Relationship building experience including liaising with, communicating to, consulting with and influencing a broad range of stakeholders
  • An ability to think strategically, taking a proactive and longer-term view to issues

Desirable

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in a commercial discipline would be an advantage
    Eligible for or working towards CIPS or IACCM (World Commerce & Contracting) membership
  • The ability to undertake travel as required
