Programme Coordinator

We have an exciting fixed term opportunity ending approximately December 2019 for someone to join our fast paced Integration team at Fire and Emergency New Zealand.  The new role of Programme Coordinator will provide essential support to multiple Workstreams based at our National Headquarters in Wellington.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017. The role of our new organisation is to reduce unwanted fires, respond to structural and vegetation fires and other emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, hazardous substance related incidents, natural disasters and support increased community resilience.

Our new, unified organisation provides a fire and emergency service that delivers for communities, and the firefighters who serve them, now and in the future.

This is a new opportunity to support the effective and efficient running of the programme and contribute as an active member of the Programme Office.  

Along with your excellent relationship skills, excellent written and oral communication skills and your attention to detail, to be successful in this role you will have: 

Our ideal candidate:

  • 5+ years experience in a project coordination role including responsibility for scheduling and reporting
  • Extensive experience and proficiency in a Windows environment especially with Word, Excel, MS Project, MS Visio and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in progress reporting: methods, techniques and tools for reporting the progress of activity against plan
  • Have good problem solving skills, be resourceful and take the initiative when needed
  • Solid understanding and experience in the application of programme and project management principles, methods and processes
  • Able to bring best practice approach whilst remaining pragmatic and flexible
  • Proficient in minute taking, planning meetings and collating papers
  • Proficient in planning techniques: methods, techniques and tools for planning and monitoring programme and project activities 
  • Creative and innovative, demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in work style to better respond to multiple requests/tasks and handle sudden changes in priorities.

Our focus is on strengthening communities through building strong relationships in the emergency services sector and across New Zealand. The remuneration range for this role is $72,727 to $80,808 gross per annum.
