Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017. The role of our new organisation is to reduce unwanted fires, respond to structural and vegetation fires and other emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, hazardous substance related incidents, natural disasters and support increased community resilience.

Our new, unified organisation provides a fire and emergency service that delivers for communities, and the firefighters who serve them, now and in the future.

We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Release & Capacity Specialist to join our busy team. Reporting to the Manager Technology & Support Services, you’ll be responsible for the design, implementation and coordination of our organisations release processes, and ultimately ensure that there is sufficient IT capacity to meet our service level targets.

This role includes scheduling and supporting changes into production, and working within the wider ICT team to achieve and maintain consistency across a range of monitoring processes. In addition, you’ll also be responsible for monitoring IT capacity levels, comparing actual levels against targets and projections, and addressing shortfalls.

As a senior member of the Technology & Support Services team, you will participate on the Change Advisory Board (CAB) as needed, provide reporting to management and technical teams when required and play a key leadership role across ICT teams in the form of mentorship, advice and guidance.

About you…

Our ideal candidate will posses the following experience and attributes:

  • demonstrated experience in asset management planning, scheduling, within ICT environments
  • excellent stakeholder engagement and communications skills – which will also assist in delivering the right outcomes, critical thinking and well-developed decision-making skills
  • is passionate about achieving results, problem solving with a high-level attention to detail
  • methodical yet flexible, and a team player who can work autonomously to meet tight deadlines and competing priorities
