Senior Organisational Development Advisor

Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency Services Act 2017. The role of our new organisation is to reduce unwanted fires, respond to structural and vegetation fires and other emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, hazardous substance related incidents, natural disasters and support increased community resilience.

Our new, unified organisation provides a fire and emergency service that delivers for communities, and the firefighters who serve them, now and in the future.

 

We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Organisational Development (OD) professionals to join our busy team dedicated to People, Capability, Leadership, and Culture. Reporting to the Lead of People, Capability and Leadership, you’ll be responsible for the successful design, development and implementation of a broad range of OD projects that aim to enhance our people capability.  

As a Senior OD Advisor your ability to guide, influence and lead others to embrace a change-as-usual mind-set is crucial. You will lead and work collaboratively with the wider People & Capability directorate and broader integration programme to ensure that our key People, Capability, and Leadership deliverables support Fire and Emergency New Zealand's strategic and operational goals.

 

The ideal applicants will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of innovative OD projects including Diversity and Inclusion, Workforce Planning, Organisational Design, Capability Development, Leadership Development, Change Management, Succession Planning and Talent Management, Reward and Recognition, and Employee Engagement.
  • Knowledge and experience in contributing to the development of HR Strategy and Policy, including an understanding of NZ employment law and HR practices.
  • Ability to manage a range of projects in a fast paced project management environment – supporting a project matrix approach and ensure the high quality delivery of key project deliverables
  • Ability to think strategically and influence others to ensure effective decision-making
  • Ability to build and manage effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and consultative skills
  • An inclusive and approachable working style
  • Strong ability to use Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio)

 

We would ideally like this role to be filled quickly, so being available to start immediately would be a plus.

This role is fixed term role ending in December 2018, however, we are also happy to consider this role for an interdepartmental secondment.
