Test Manager

This role will support our large transformation projects as well as BAU system testing.

We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated, experienced Test Manager who is capable of leading and managing test teams across complex Projects and BAU, in a transforming ICT organization. As a key member of the FENZ Test and Assurance practice, the Test Manager is expected to be support and drive the FENZ Enterprise quality vision and objectives. 

About the role

Take a lead role in Fire and Emergency’s Test and Assurance Practice on several exciting projects. You will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing Business Requirements and providing Test Estimates
  • Providing guidance/recommendation on Testing Tools
  • Providing guidance on ISQTB test methodologies
  • Creating a Test Plan that covers the scope, entry and exit criteria, schedule, approach for testing, test resource requirements, test environments, risks, assumptions, dependencies and constraints
  • Reviews the test cases produced by the test team and ensures a Requirements Traceability Matrix is completed and delivered as part of Test Exit Report
  • Progress reporting – includes rate of execution per day, defects summary and status, risks, issues
  • Captures Test Metrics and provide analysis
  • Leading the defect triage meetings with the vendors
  • Coordinating the test team on a day to day basis to deliver the testing components of the project
  • Mentors the test team
  • Schedules with the Business Solutions team and the Business themselves for the required User Acceptance Testing or Business Acceptance Testing.
  • Manage the User Acceptance or Business Acceptance Testing and track it to completion.
  • Liaising with other project team members, other testing team members, suppliers, vendors and others in the organisation as required.
  • Monitoring and reporting to the Test and Assurance Practice Manager on progress against the testing schedule, proactively highlighting risks and issues.
  • Maintain the Estimates vs. Actuals effort tracking for the test team
  • Preparation of Test Exit Reports, other reports and documentation as required

The Test Manager will work closely with the Test and Assurance Practice Manager and be comfortable with a hands-on approach to leading and mentoring the Test Team across all aspects of testing within the project.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract, the salary range for this role is $122,000 to $136,000 per annum.

About you


  • Sound experience in the Software Test Lifecycle and Systems Integration Testing, Regression Testing, Functionality Testing, Web Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Business Acceptance Testing, Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT)
  • ISTQB Foundations certified
  • Extensive testing experience
  • Significant experience leading and or managing test resources
  • Able to handle at least two projects at the same time
  • Coordination of a team of testers to deliver the testing component of a complex software development project involving a third-party supplier
  • Experience in developing and implementing test plans, and in the preparation and execution of Test Plan and Test Cases etc.
  • Estimating the effort required to provide the testing deliverables
  • Knowledge and experience in the technical aspects of the use of backend testing tools for validating results
  • Gathering and managing test data
  • Strong analytical thinking and good problem-solving skills
  • Strong risks and issue-management skills
  • A pro active team player
  • Provide resolution paths to issues regarding testing

You may also have automation experience and an understanding of Jira and DevOps
