Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017. The role of our new organisation is to reduce unwanted fires, respond to structural and vegetation fires and other emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, hazardous substance related incidents, natural disasters and support increased community resilience.

Our new, unified organisation provides a fire and emergency service that delivers for communities, and the firefighters who serve them, now and in the future.

We currently have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Planning and Performance Advisor to join a newly created team. This role will be tasked with enhancing planning process and performance analytics within the People Branch. Reporting nationally to the Training Planning and Performance Manager, the role includes aligning Training planning with the organisation’s strategic objectives, coordinating the annual planning process, and monitoring progress.  You will also provide expertise to the People Branch Leadership Team and collaborate with partners to develop and embed a comprehensive suite of learning and development performance metrics and analytics, which will be used to inform appropriate changes in strategy and direction, and to drive performance improvement across the branch. 

Our ideal applicant will have the following experience:

  • Significant experience in a similar planning and performance or business analyst position
  • Ability introduce performance metrics and communicate complex information clearly and credibly to a variety of different audiences
  • Ability to use advanced Excel and other reporting suites to produce numerical and written reports in a clear and concise manner 
  • Demonstrated ability to construct effective business plans and financial forecasts
  • Highly developed persuading, influencing and relationship management skills
  • Ability to develop performance objectives and measures 
  • Experience with developing performance metrics and analysing performance data a facilitate performance improvement initiatives at an organisational level.

The salary range for this role is $82,489 to $91,655.  

We offer a great range of benefits as part of this permanent role:

  • If you contribute to Kiwisaver we will match your contributions up to 6%, which is 3% more than the amount employers are required to pay.
  • Wellness policy -  Sick leave is paid with no limit (provided there is fair use).
  • An additional week of annual leave after five years; and additional one off long service leave of two weeks at ten and 20 years.
