To work for Fire and Emergency New Zealand you must hold the legal right to work in New Zealand.
To work as a career firefighter for Fire and Emergency New Zealand you must be a New Zealand citizen or have Permanent Residency - there are no exceptions. (Australian citizens can also work freely in New Zealand). Please refer to the New Zealand Immigration Service for further information.
Can I be a career firefighter?
We run the Recruitment Process at a national level twice a year, typically in January and June. To become a Career Firefighter, you’ll need to complete our Recruitment Process.

As a Fire and Emergency Dispatcher you will be answering 111 calls, allocating resources to respond to incidents and supporting incident ground operations.
