ALISON BOSWIJK (Chair)

Alison is the Chief Executive at Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce, and previously held the roles of Deputy Mayor at Nelson City Council and Head of International and Project Development, World of WearableArt.

Her extensive governance career includes roles as chair for the Nelson Festivals Trust and Interim Regional Skills Leadership Group, co-chair at Regional Skills Leadership Group, trustee of Nelson Festivals Trust and member of Strategic Advisory Group for the Regional Art Development.

Alison has a background in Communications, Business Development, Arts and Marketing.

 SHANE GRAHAM (Deputy Chair)

Shane Graham is a distinguished leader with extensive governance and management experience across international, national, and regional levels, particularly in Te Tauihu o Te Waka-ā-Māui (Top of the South). He currently serves as the Pouwhakahaere/CEO of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rārua, where he has played a pivotal role in driving strategic initiatives and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners.

Shane is also an accomplished academic, having served as the Head of the Social Sciences Programme and the Head of Māori Studies at Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT). His work in these roles has been recognised with multiple awards, including the State Sector Commission Spirit of Service Award and the Commonwealth Achievement Award for Health Action.

Shane brings a wealth of knowledge, a deep commitment to service, and a proven track record of leadership in both governance and crisis management. His insights will provide valuable perspectives on the integration of Māori values and practices within the broader emergency management framework.

 RICHARD KEMPTHORNE (Member)

Richard is the former Mayor of the Tasman District where he served a 12-year term. He was Chair for the Buller Flood Recovery Steering Group with the Department of Internal Affairs. He is Chair of the Top of the South Rural Support Trust and Chair of Big Brothers Big Sisters Nelson Tasman.

Previously an orchardist at Appleby and Director at NZ Fruit Growers Federation, Richard’s extensive governance career includes chairing the New Zealand Agrichemical Education Trust.

 JENNIFER BEATSON (Member)

Jennifer is currently the Regional Public Service Director for the Nelson Tasman Marlborough and West Coast regions. Her role is to coordinate the delivery of regional system leadership, bringing government and community around the big sticky challenges that require a multi-pronged approach. She previously held roles as the Regional Commissioner Advisor at Ministry of Social Development and General Manager, Nelson Tasman Pasifika Community Trust. Jennifer had been involved in a range of governance roles including as a School Board Trustee, Pasifika Community Trust, YMCA (Regional and National) NMIT Advisory Board and Nelson Tasman Regional Skills Leadership Group. Involved in emergency management, Jennifer participates in regional forums at a strategic level and is an alternate welfare manager for the Nelson Tasman Civil Defence.

My name is Te Naihi Russell Trevor Wilson linked to seven Iwi as above, mostly of the South Island. I currently work for myself as a consultant to organisations that wish to have an improved relationship with Iwi Hapū and Māori I contract to many organisations in both the South and North Island, my background is in Academia and Social Work in Government and Non-government entities. Prior to contracting I was CEO at Whakatū Marae and Dean at NMIT.

 ANTHONY (TONY) LEWIS (Member)

Tony recently completed his tenure as CEO of Western Force, following his roles as CEO of Tasman Rugby Union, Randwick Rugby Football Club and General Manager of NSW Corporate Games, Diabetes Australia NSW, and Cricket NSW.

Tony brings strong community relationships at individual and local government levels, including with local iwi and Pasifika Community Trust construction industry, business, schools, food and beverage, commercial industries, farmers, various demographic groups and sporting organisations including local club and provincial bodies.

 FIONA WILSON (Member)

Originally from Wales, and recently from Tasmania, Fiona has extensive experience in regional, economic and tourism development and recovery. She has international experience in her field and is passionate about improving the well-being of local communities through economic development. Fiona brings to the LAC varied skills, an ability to get across complex issues quickly and to understand, present to and work with a wide range of people and forums.
