Your checklist
  • Get low

    Smoke is poisonous and more deadly than flames.

    If you breathe smoke for more than a few breaths it can kill you.

  • Be fast

    A house fire can kill you in less than three minutes.

    Don't spend time trying to save possessions.

  • Close doors

    A closed door buys you time.

    It slows down the spread of fire, giving you more time to get to safety.

  • Get out - stay out!

    People have died by going back into a fire.

    Don't leave the meeting place to go back inside for any reason.

Employers of our volunteers are an essential part of the support crew.

Please register to be included in our employer recognition programme if you are a self-employed volunteer or employ a volunteer. We'll contact your employe's brigade, then confirm your participation in our programme as soon as we have received your registration.

Terms and conditions

We collect the employer information you provide in this form, including names and contact information, so we can keep track of employers registered in our recognition programme, and communicate with them.

If  you are Fire and Emergency Volunteer providing an email address on behalf of your employer please check with them first that they are happy to share this information and have their business listed in our Directory.

The names of our recognised employers are listed in our online directory, which is displayed on our external website and can be searched by members of the public. You can view the database here: Employer recognition programme database. If you would prefer not to be listed in the online directory please let us know.

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. You can also request that this information be destroyed at any time.
